Vacation Bible School Team

Number of Positions: 8 to 10 team members needed, ages 18 and up
Expected Length of Service: 2.5 weeks
Dates Opportunity is Available: July 17 to August 5, 2012
Application due date: May 31, 2012
Purpose: To offer a VBS-type program for elementary school-aged children.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Prepare for and teach two one-week VBS sessions in two different cities.
2. Be willing to share your Christian faith with others.
3. Build relationships with the community by staying open and flexible to the culture around you.
4. Live and worship with the community during the project.
5. Complete recommended reading and orientation before departure to the country.
6. Report back to congregations and to individual supporters about the work of CRWM and our partners.
Qualifications:
1. Mature Christian committed to serving Jesus Christ.
2. Experience with VBS and/or Sunday School required; musical ability preferred.
3. Good oral and written communication skills, as well as reporting, planning and organizational skills.
4. Able to withstand moderate physical exertion and to stand for long periods of time.
5. Compassionate and respectful of other cultures.
6. Proactive and able to work with minimal supervision in ambiguous situations.
7. Flexible, adaptable and able to view life with a sense of humor.

Support Services Provided: CRWM agrees to provide:
- Orientation materials.
- Ongoing logistical support.
- Support and assistance with fund-raising, if desired.
- The support of CRWM field staff and partners while on the field.
Requirements of the volunteer:
1. Complete and submit a CRWM volunteer application form;
2. Provide a current (within 2 years) criminal background check: including a vulnerable sector search.
3. Raise prayer and financial support by inviting churches and individuals to give to this opportunity.
4. Attend an orientation session in Grand Rapids, MI or Burlington, ON when possible, or participate in alternative (phone- and/or web-based) options.
5. Adhere to 'CRCNA Standards of Conduct', 'CRCNA Crisis Management Policy' and any other applicable policies and/or procedures.
Financial Obligations of the Volunteer: please note that costs are estimated and listed in US funds
Travel to country – depends on departure city; approximately $1500 - $2500
Food - $250
Lodging - $500
In-country transportation - $300
Ministry supplies - $50.00
TOTAL Estimated funds needed - $1100 plus airfare and other misc costs (visa, insurance, etc.)
