A. Encourage your congregation to be a PRAYING church.

Encourage your pastor to pray regularly for your missionaries, for CRWM and the world. Provide specific requests.
 
 
 
 
O
Pass urgent missionary prayer items to your pastor immediately.
 
 
 
 
O
Make certain that missionary prayer letters get duplicated and distributed in a timely fashion.
 
 
 
 
O
Learn personally how to pray for missions and your missionaries and teach the congregation to do the same
 
 
 
 
O
Encourage your pastor to use the "Moments for Missions" which CRWM-USA sends out each month, or the bulletin announcements from CRWM-Canada.  Have your church watch the Global Update powerpoint during an offering.
 
 
 
 
O
Organize prayer groups designed to pray for missions.
B. Encourage your congregation to develop an expansive VISION for  
    missions and a deep sense of OWNERSHIP of its mission.
 
 
 
 
O
Attend meetings organized by your regional representative and share the information you gain with the congregation.
 
 
 
 
O
Familiarize yourself with the people group(s) your missionaries work with and share that information with your congregation.
 
 
 
 
O
Get to know your missionaries personally and then help your congregation to do the same.
 
 
 
 
O
Communicate regularly with your missionaries by letter or email. Encourage the congregation to do the same. Organize a Christmas card campaign.
 
 
 
 
O
Help your congregation to develop certain strategies such as reaching an un-reached people group or focusing on a certain part of the world.

Plan a Mission Emphasis Event designed to inform and encourage the congregation about its mission and missionaries. Start planning early in the summer for a fall event. Start planning in the winter for a spring event. Contact your Missions Advocate for suggestions or to schedule special speakers.

Find out when your missionaries are on home service and plan your special missions event to coincide with home service. Contact your Mission Mobilizer for this information.

Encourage your members to display and use the CRWM calendar. In the USA it is mailed each fall to the home addresses of those churches which have supplied the denominational offices with their church directories. Otherwise you can order the calendar in bulk and distribute them to your members. In Canada, the calendar is distributed in bulk to churches.

Each fall CRWM prepares a new set of bulletin covers and/or bulletin inserts. Order these and use on a regular basis.

Let the various organizations in your congregation know that you are the Missions Advocate and want to help them bring a missions emphasis to their particular organization.

Remind your deacons to add CRWM to the list of causes for a special offering. Thanksgiving or Christmas are good times for promoting special projects.

Ask your deacons to schedule a special offering for CRWM on Pentecost. Ask your pastor and/or worship committee to design a special worship service on Pentecost. Try to schedule a missionary speaker on Pentecost. Start early and check with your Missions Advocate.

Prepare or update a Missions Bulletin Board. Contact your regional rep for ideas or review our resources brochure.

Be sure that your missionary email and snail mail addresses are accurate and readily available to the congregation.

Share the PROJECT GIVING GUIDE with the leaders of various organizations such as Sunday School, Young Peoples and with the deacons as well.

Oversee the distribution of Pentecost materials which your congregation will automatically receive well before Pentecost.

Regularly schedule CRWM videos to be shown to your Sunday School or in a worship service, perhaps during the offering time.

Encourage your Sunday School leader and teachers to get the kids involved in the CRWM annual poster contest. Materials are sent to each church in January.
C. Encourage your congregation to be a missionary-SENDING church for
    both long term and short term missionaries.

Promote CRWM's Summer Missions Program among your college-age young adults.

Encourage your congregation to develop a Partnership in Missions with one or more CRWM missionary families or a church/community overseas. Contact your Missions Advocate for more help with this.

Encourage your congregation to get involved in a short-term missions trip. Start by talking with the missionaries your congregation supports.
 
 
 
 
O
Take your pastor with you on a missions trip, preferably to visit one of the missionaries your church supports.
D. Encourage your congregation to provide the FINANCIAL RESOURCES
    needed to put its
 vision into action.
 
 
 
 
O
Ministry Shares continue to be a major source of funding for CRWM. Please help us encourage your congregation and thank them for their faithful Ministry Shares giving.
 
 
 
 
O
Missionary Support is the second major source of funds for CRWM. If your congregation already supports one or more missionaries with CRWM, encourage the congregation to increase its level of support or to add another missionary family.
 
 
 
 
O
If your congregation does not currently have a partnership with a CRWM missionary family, talk with your missions committee or council and encourage them to develop a Partnership with a CRWM missionary family. Talk to your Missions Mobilizer for help.
 
 
 
 
O
If missionary support is a regular part of your church budget and has not increased in proportion to your church budget, consider instituting Faith-Promise Giving for your missionary support.
E. Encourage your congregation to be a knowledgeable, loving and
    CARING church; a church in partnership with its mission and its
    missionaries and the national churches with whom we work.

Encourage your congregation to get to know its missionaries on a personal basis. This happens best during a well-designed missionary visit. Click on Opportunities and look under “Missionary Care” or speak with your regional rep.

Promote good communication between your congregation and its missionaries using Skype, email or snail mail.

Consider sending care packages now and then, especially before Christmas. Start early. Ask your missionaries what they would like and the best way to send it to avoid customs, etc. Think of missionary kids especially.

Send church "stuff" to your missionaries such as bulletins, the church directory, monthly newsletters, etc.
F. Encourage your congregation to recognize and utilize the network of
    Missions Mobilizers
and Missions Advocates.

Make certain that you know your Missions Mobilizer. They are specially trained to help you function effectively within your congregation.
 
 
 
 
O
Make sure that your congregation's leaders know that you are the liaison between your congregation and CRWM.
