Support-Raising
At World Missions, we talk about three distinct aspects of support . . . prayer, care, and financial support.
It is our privilege and responsibility to assist you in securing your support.
Fund-Raising: How Does it Work?
- Together we will develop a brochure about your summer mission service.
- We will ask your home church to commission you and provide much of your support.
- We will write other churches which you suggest and challenge them to support you.
- We will provide you with 50 or more personal
fund-raising brochures for you to distribute to individuals.
Perhaps this support-raising business makes you a bit uneasy. That's rather common. Here are a few hints to help you stay cool:
- Be certain you are entering into this ministry in response to the call of God. If your call is clear, God will provide the means.
- Ask God's blessing on every aspect of support- raising.
- Don't be afraid to ask. You are providing fellow Christians an opportunity to be involved in some aspect of missions.
- Look at support-raising as the presentation of a need and request for partnership.
- Rely on the Holy Spirit to prepare people to respond. Your responsibility is to present the need.
A minimum of 60% of the individual's budget must be received before departure.
In the past few years, SMP teams have raised 100% of their support. God's people have shown themselves remarkably generous when young adults are willing to devote their summers to mission service.
