SMP Philippines 2009

What you’ll be doing: ***  A team of four will participate with local young people in youth ministry and HIV/AIDS ministry.  This cross-cultural team will promote HIV prevention by continuing the work begun by Christian Reformed Churches in the Philippines (CRC-P).  Experience in nursing, public health, or HIV/AIDS is preferred.  Some musical talent and experience in youth ministry would be helpful.

How you’ll be equipped/prepared:  

(all SMP teams also attend a mandatory pre-field orientation in Grand Rapids, Michigan)

Where you’ll stay:  With host families (in some cases, you will be hosted by the families of your Filipino teammates).

Who you'll spend your summer with: 

· Your hosts on the field: 
Dwayne and Gladys Thielke serve as Church Developers with Christian Reformed World Missions. They have served in the Philippines for more than eighteen years.

Pastor Van Bernardino, a pastor in the CRC-P, will also be leading the team.

· Your teammates:  A team of two men and two women from North America, joined by Filipino team members.

Tentative Cost:  $4350 USD/$5435 CAD
