WHERE

Asia - Four team members are needed to build relationships with local Christians and seekers.  Serve the church in this Asian country by teaching English.  Experience another part of the body of Christ through worship with local believers, glimpses into your students' lives, language and culture study, and sightseeing.  Team members must be willing to teach both children and adults (teaching experience helpful but not necessary). For questions or more information about this location, contact us.

(***PLEASE NOTE: This team has a later return date than the other SMP teams.
See the Asia SMP page for more information.)

Guatemala - Team members will participate in a variety of different ministry options with key grassroots leaders serving high-risk youth and families in the hardest places of Guatemala City. This includes options with a new ministry with street youth (largely at night), inclusion in a gang chaplaincy initiative in the midst of incarcerated active gang members and their children, and with families in extreme urban poverty.
Team members need an intermediate level of conversational Spanish. Native Spanish speakers are encouraged to apply.

Niger - 2 women or 2 men are needed to do ministry either with the REMAR orphanage in Niamey, or with the Sisters of Charity Center in Saga Gourou.  Ministry opportunities will depend on the abilities and interests of the team members, but possibilities at the orphanage include providing basic education, assisting with the children's care, or teaching classes in sewing or carpentry.  Possibilities at the Sisters of Charity Center include assisting with a mother/infant feeding program or caring for terminally ill patients.  An intermediate level of French (for the REMAR orphanage only) and a good deal of resilience are required.

Philippines - A team of two men and two women will participate with local young people in youth ministry and HIV/AIDS ministry.  This cross-cultural team will promote HIV prevention by continuing the work begun by Christian Reformed Churches in the Philippines.  Experience in nursing, public health, or HIV/AIDS is preferred.  Some musical talent and experience in youth ministry would be helpful.

West Africa - 1 or 2 male team members who are physically fit and experienced in hiking are needed to go trekking on foot out to villages throughout the region, spending nights in villages and eating local food.  French ability is not required, but would be helpful.  Some reading and language study will be required prior to and during your time on the field. For questions or more information about this location, contact us.
