Ministry at a Glance

The Akha ethnic group is one Thailand's six major ethnic groups. Originally from China's Yunnan province (where the great majority still live), many Akha people now live in Myanmar, Northern Thailand, Laos, or Vietnam. In Thailand, the Akha live in the hills, working as subsistence farmers. They face much prejudice and have been involved in human rights and justice issues.

Christian Reformed World Missions (CRWM) partners with Rusty and Lynette Polinder, missionaries focusing on community development, leadership training, and nursing among the Akha people in Thailand.
