Ko Spyksma

Vice-President, Canada
Region 1

Ko Spyksma is from Cobble Hill, B.C. where she is happily married to William and delights in being a “crazy Oma”. She is a member of Duncan Christian Reformed Church. She is a retired Christian school teacher/principal. She is a CRWM Mobilizer for B.C. Ko has held leadership positions in church education, worked in Bible study programs, Abuse Prevention, Volunteer Family Counseling and many Christian school committees. She is an active hospice volunteer in the community. Her passion is that all will know Jesus Christ, crucified, risen and coming again. She has been in Western Africa a number of times, ranging from two months to a year with CRWM and Wycliffe.

Ed Jager

President, Canada
Region 2

Ed Jager has devoted his life to working in the church for more than twenty years. He has a heart of worship and a passion for missions. God had already begun developing this heart and passion early in his teens. Through events, people, and churches, God continued to shape him into a missional leader for the glory of God. Over the course of his ministry career, Ed has served on various boards and committees such as the Lacombe Ministerial, Dordt College, Camp Chestermere, and Classis. Presently, Ed serves as lead pastor of Emmanuel CRC where he desires to be part of what God is doing. He especially enjoys working alongside many people in hosting community dinners, opening a food pantry for the neighborhood, and overseeing the fantastic community gardens on the church property.

Jacob Boer

Canada Member
Region 3

Rev. Boer is a lifelong member of the CRC, graduated from Redeemer College in ’99 and Calvin Seminary in ‘03. He was ordained in First CRC of Montreal in March 2004. Serving in Quebec brings unique situations in terms of ministry and outreach due to Quebec's francophone culture with French is its dominant language. Quebec is presently the largest mission field in North America and one of the most secular places in North America. First CRC in Montreal is in the middle of this mission field in one of the most culturally and ethnically diverse cities in North America. Rev. Boer feels called to this culture because his heart’s calling has always been to reach out to those who either do not know Jesus or who have not yet accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Living and working in this culture helps him understand the long term commitment missionaries and their families experience on the mission field while still living and working in a North American context.

Derek Bouma

Derek is diligent in his responsibilities and promotes and supports denominational ministries as well. He is well respected by other pastors and often brings thoughtful and reflective insights into discussions and deliberations.

Oosterhuis is a member of West End CRC in Edmonton, Alberta and a recently retired pastor.   He is a graduate of Calvin College, Calvin Seminary, and received a Doctorate in New Testament Theology from the Free University of Amsterdam. He served a 1-year internship in Mkar, Nigeria. He started a graduate program in New Testament Theology after graduation partly in the hope of going back to Nigeria to teach and partly to work on translation and writing projects for the Tiv Church. During his graduate study, he grew in the conviction that his calling was to serve in the mission of the church to contemporary culture, hence moving into campus ministry. He learned to speak Dutch as a second language and gained congregational ministry experience during 2 ½ years of service at the Gereformeerde Kerk in Weesp, The Netherlands while studying at the Free University. Tom and his wife, Alyce, spent 3 months serving a Dutch congregation in Alanya, Turkey, after his retirement, and will return October, 2011 for another 11 weeks of service.
