An internship with Christian Reformed Home Missions is a one-on-one ministry training opportunity that provides:
- On-site, in-ministry application of biblical studies.
- Practical work to sharpen ministry skills.
- Opportunity for growth in Godly character.
- Preparation of leaders for the harvest in North America.
Internships play a key role in Home Missions’ plan to identify, train, and places persons in Kingdom service throughout the Christian Reformed Church. This plan is part of an overall strategy for building a culture of church planting in the denomination.
Home Missions has four types of internships: Formal, Non-formal, Summer or academic.
Special Note: Christian Reformed Home Missions will soon be ending its academic internship program. As a result, we are no longer accepting new applications.
Formal Internship
- Formal internship is for a person enrolled in an accredited academic seminary or Bible college program.
- The internship is intended to meet the field requirements of that academic program.
- Formal internships extend for a maximum of 12 months. Part-time internships can be extended over two years.
Non-formal Internship
- A non-formal internship is a non-accredited work-study program, individually customized for persons who are preparing for ordained ministry in the Christian Reformed Church.
- The internship ordinarily consists of two six month work-study contracts and is limited to 12 months total. Under extenuating circumstances, extension beyond 12 months may be negotiable.
- Non-formal internships typically serve as the final preparation for the ordination exam for ministry associate.
- The internship can assist ministries from non-CRC denominations preparing for a doctrinal conversation before Classis.
Summer Internship
- A summer internship is for students and other temporary staffing.
- Enrollment in an academic institution is a prerequisite for a summer internship.
- The internship is ordinarily 3 or 4 months total.
