Encounter Church’s core passage of scripture is the story of the prodigal son, especially Luke 15:20 which reads “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him” (NIV). They are deeply excited about the God who runs after his children no matter how far off they are, and want to spread the word to all his lost children. This ministry’s mission statement is “Meeting God, Finding Grace.” They believe that when people find community, lives can be changed, and ultimately, people really belong in God's family, which is where the best life transformation can happen. Some important ministries Encounter Church is using to build community are a women’s fitness group, a walking club, a book club, a financial responsibility course, and a parenting seminar. Slowly the neighborhood is opening up to these church sponsored events, and community is being built. Please consider a gift! This ministry is funded in part by Home Missions. You may give to this ministry directly by contacting Encounter Church at pastordirk@myencounterchurch.org Or, give to the ministry's Home Missions grant at www.crhm.org.

Encounter Church’s ministry is focused in a middle to upper class neighborhood that is spiritually and relationally dry. Many of the residents do not plan to stay in the area indefinitely, and because of this, and other factors, the neighborhood is characterized by a growing sense of distance.
