North America: A Massive Mission Field

Our mission is based right here at home, and for good reason: All across North America, people and communities are desperate for the gospel! Young and old, more people are searching for meaning in their lives. They’re faced with rising unemployment, financial uncertainty, terrorism fears, and great emotional stress everywhere they turn. They need hope and renewal, but cannot seem to find it.

But instead of opening their hearts to Jesus, North Americans today are turning their backs on Him.

In the recent American Religious Identification Survey, 76% of Americans called themselves “Christian,” down from 86% in 1990. The same survey showed that the number of Americans who claim no religion at all rose in all 50 states. A similar report from Statistics Canada revealed that the percentage of Christians in Canada is dropping by 1 percent each year.

 


Home Missions: Renewing Lives and Communities

Home Missions is devoted to sharing the gospel of Jesus so that North Americans can find the hope that they’re seeking. Through our regional ministry teams in all corners of Canada and the United States, we work closely with local CRC congregations and classes to multiply new churches and campus ministries; find and develop diverse missional leaders; and partner with churches in a shared mission.
