Church Developer—Honduras
PURPOSE
Enhance the capacity of Reformed and Presbyterian churches in Central America to plan, implement, evaluate and sustain integral church growth on the local, classis, and national levels with particular focus on the CRC of Honduras.
FIELD RESPONSIBILITIES
- Advise national boards and the boards of local classes in strategic planning, particularly in the areas of evangelism, youth ministry, and economic sustainability.
- Accompany selected local churches in developing plans for integral church growth, with the goal of developing best practices that can be appropriated and adapted by other congregations.
- Serve as an official representative of CRWM to the higher assemblies of the churches offering counsel and teaching in Reformed church order as appropriate.
- Administer, monitor and evaluate the use of interdependency funding.
NORTH AMERICAN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Educate the CRCNA and others about the nature of the global church and its mission.
- Encourage CRC churches to develop a deeper passion and involvement in international missions.
- Communicate the nature and value of CRWM's ministries to the CRCNA and beyond and participate in support raising for those ministries by developing and maintaining a network of supporting churches and individuals which will provide prayer, care and financial support for the ministry with a financial support goal of at least 60% of the worldwide average cost of a missionary.
- Provide the CRCNA with insight and resources for ministry among minority racial/national/religious groups living in North America, about which the missionary has knowledge and expertise.
- Facilitate reciprocal exchanges between the CRCNA and overseas churches.
Note: These North America responsibilities are expected to require spending approximately
A. 15% of total salaried time in North America on home service.The primary purpose of home service is presenting the ministry to supporting and other churches, individuals and schools - educating, encouraging, providing, facilitating, etc. and B. 10% of time while on the field communicating with North America including connecting to one’s network through prayer letters, emails, etc.
FIELD STRUCTURE
The CRWM staff person would report to the Latin American regional directors.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Cross-cultural mission experienced preferred
- Clear, articulated vision for reformed church government and for integral church growth
- Pastoral experience and teaching/training skills
- Ordination preferred
- Desired characteristics: flexibility, creativity, good team worker, self-starting, ability to work within Central American culture, excellent health.
- Proficiency in Spanish preferable; otherwise, a willingness to learn Spanish

PURPOSE
The West Africa Muslim-ministry Coordinator is responsible for the encouragement, support, and mentoring of individuals, organizations, and national churches who are engaged in Muslim evangelism. This person will help implement the region's ministry priorities for Muslim evangelism, connect regional ministries with ministry among Muslims elsewhere in the world, and develop training materials for ministry among Muslims including in North America.
FIELD RESPONSIBILITIES
Muslim Outreach:
- Interact with Muslims through dialogue and evangelism.
- Encourage the work of friendship evangelism by individuals and churches.
Discipleship/Mentoring:
- Identify, mentor and disciple Muslim converts.
- Serve as a resource to organizations and national churches in their efforts to do Muslim ministry.
- Connect Muslim ministries and enhance ministry through partnerships.
- Mentor, nurture, and encourage pastors working in West Africa.
- Lead prayer and training sessions for pastors in West Africa.
- Liaise with CRCN regarding church development in CRCN RCC Niger.
Education:
- Research current trends in Islam and in reaching out to Muslims.
- Teach Muslim evangelism at a local seminary/Bible school in Nigeria.
- Work with national churches and their congregations to sensitize them to their Muslim neighbors and what they believe.
- Facilitate workshops concerning the basics of the Muslim faith.
NORTH AMERICAN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Educate the CRCNA and others about the nature of the global church and its mission.
- Encourage CRC churches to develop a deeper passion and involvement in international missions.
- Communicate the nature and value of CRWM's ministries to the CRCNA and beyond and participate in support raising for those ministries by developing and maintaining a network of supporting churches and individuals which will provide prayer, care and financial support for the ministry with a financial support goal of at least 60% of the worldwide average cost of a missionary.
- Provide the CRCNA with insight and resources for ministry among minority racial/national/religious groups living in North America, about which the missionary has knowledge and expertise.
- Facilitate reciprocal exchanges between the CRCNA and overseas churches.
Note: These North America responsibilities are expected to require spending approximately A. 15% of total salaried time in North America on home service. The primary purpose of home service is presenting the ministry to supporting and other churches, individuals and schools - educating, encouraging, providing, facilitating, etc. and B. 10% of time while on the field communicating with North America including connecting to one’s network through prayer letters, emails, etc.
FIELD STRUCTURE
This position will initially be located in the Eastern Kambari Area of northwestern Nigeria and will report to the Nigeria Team Leader.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
- Mature Christian faith
- Pastoral heart and love for discipling new Christians
- Strong desire and ability to evangelize Muslims
- Knowledge of the Muslim faith
- Willingness and ability to learn the Hausa language
- Training in and appreciation for cross-cultural ministry
- Ability to work with others from different cultures and religious traditions
- Flexiblity in regard to West African travel, communication, and living conditions
- Master's degree (completed or in process) in mission, evangelism, or theology
Preferred:
- Previous ministry experience in West Africa
- Experience in cross-cultural/Muslim ministry

Administrative Consultant –HAITI
Anticipated opening, beginning July 2008*
PURPOSE
To provide advice and consultation for the establishment of the Perspectives Réformées in Haiti (PRH) Follow-Up Center in Haiti. The Administrative Consultant will work closely with both the PRH National Coordinator and the PRH National Administrator of the Follow-up Center of the French Ministry of the BTGH in Haiti. CRWM and Perspectives Rèformèes Internationales/ BTGH’s goal is that the consultant will help provide and coordinate the training necessary for the Haitian national staff to operate of the PRH Follow-Up Center in two years.
FIELD RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the PRH National Coordinator and the PRH National Administrator in setting goals, planning, organizing, overseeing and evaluation the work of the PRH Follow-Up Center.
- Advise Perspectives Rèformèes Internationales, CRWM/Sous Espwa, and PRH staff on the Haitian and international levels regarding the process necessary for the establishment of a PRH Follow-Up Center.
- Provide consultation and oversight for the work of the different services of the PRH Follow-Up Center (radio, television, literature, internet, Bible correspondence courses etc.).
- Assist the PRH National Coordinator and the PRH National Administrator in setting up the necessary logistics to supervise the national staff and volunteers of the PRH Follow-Up Center.
- Assist in the creation of and execution of the PRH annual budget and ministry plans.
- Assist the PRH National Coordinator and the PRH National Administrator in the quarterly reporting and annual evaluation of the PRH ministry to CRWM/Sous Espwa and Perspectives Rèformèes Internationales /BTGH.
- Provide quarterly personnel reports to CRWM/Sous Espwa and Perspectives Rèformèes Internationales /BTGH staff.
- Assist the Haitian staff in the production and mailing of PRH Radio/Television/ Internet programs in Haiti.
- Assist in the development of a communication link between the PRH Follow-up Center and the churches and radio stations that work with PRH materials.
- Assist the PRH National Administrator in developing a system of publication & distribution of follow-up materials (Bible correspondence courses, books, devotional material etc.).
- Assist the PRH National Administrator to develop a system of handling of mail from and to listeners.
- Encourage and assist the PRH staff to develop a network of Haitian volunteers to staff satellite centers in other communities and regularly make site visits.
- Assist the PRH National Administrator in developing and maintaining a current database of Bible correspondence students and distributed educational materials.
- Assist the PRH National Administrator to maintain a current database of local church supporters/promoters, radio station contacts, PRH Follow-Up Center volunteers, and the listeners of PRH.
- Encourage the PRH National Coordinator and the PRH National Administrator to develop a network of contacts in local Haitian churches and evangelical radio stations that will promote the work of PRH and the PRH Follow-Up Center and facilitate contracts with churches and radio stations that are interested in broadcasting/ promoting PRH and its materials.
- Participate in training events as requested by BTGH in other countries where Perspectives Rèformèes Internationales works.
- Serve as a regular CRWM/Sous Espwa staff member, participating in team meetings and training events and helping in one or two administrative duties of the team.

FIELD STRUCTURE
- The Administrative Consultant is an employee (Associate Missionary) of CRWM. However, he/she will work closely with Perspectives Rèformèes Internationales /BTGH staff in the establishment of a PRH Follow-Up Center.
- The Administrative Consultant will report to Perspectives Rèformèes Internationales/ BTGH staff and CRWM/Sous Espwa staff. The CRWM Country Administrator in Haiti will provide field supervision for the Administrative Consultant, while Perspectives Rèformèes Internationales/BTGH will provide strategic supervision and direction.
- The Administrative Consultant will keep open lines of communication with Perspectives Rèformèes Internationales/BTGH, with PRH staff (including the National Coordinator and Administrator), with radio program stations, with CRWM/Sous Espwa, and with donors and other supporters.
QUALIFICATIONS
- College-level degree in administration/management and/or finances.
- Experience in managing finances for an organization.
- Spoken/written languages: English and French and/or Haitian Creole.
- Computer-literate in Microsoft Windows (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Committed and mature Christian who is active in his or her local church and willing to promote a Reformed Christian perspective.
- Minimum of one year cross-cultural experience with a mission organization.
- Willingness to develop and mobilize a support base in North America (which includes the publication of regular newsletters and correspondence with individuals and churches in North America).
- Willingness to adhere to all employment-related policies of CRWM, BTGH, and the Christian Reformed Church of North America (CRCNA).
