Written and translated by Rev. Sergei Sosedkin, Russian Ministry Leader
Jan. 25, 2007--Sergei Kuznetsov, one of our listeners in southern Russia, received a very special present from The Back to God Hour this past Christmas—his first Bible!
Not long ago Mr. Kuznetsov wrote our St. Petersburg follow-up office, “Thank you so much for your Vozvraschenie k Bogu (Return to God) broadcast. It helped me to come to God last year. After hearing the Gospel on the radio I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Now my daily life is devoted to praising and serving him. I’m trying not to miss your broadcasts because they showed me the light of salvation."
Then Kuznetsov admitted, “I feel embarrassed about telling you this, but I don’t have a Bible of my own. I’m a 42-year-old physically disabled person, and I live on meager social security payments. I discovered that some local churches here have Bibles for sale but they are too expensive for me. Sometimes at nights I cannot fall asleep and I start thinking: ‘Could it be God’s will that I still don’t have a Bible of my own?’”
After reading his letter we knew that we had a perfect Christmas gift for him – a Russian Bible! Jesus taught us that it is more blessed to give than to receive. As we were packaging that Bible for Kuznetsov, we could literally sense the truth in Christ’s words.
Professor Timofei Nikolaevich is another listener who requested a Bible from our St. Petersburg office. He received a Bible for the first time in his life when he was over 60 years old, and retired from the University.
As a supporter of The Back to God Hour, you can also feel the blessed excitement of gifts to support our ministry. Thanks to your generosity, we are able to share the gospel with people like our friends Mr. Kuznetsov and Professor Nikolaevich. On behalf of the countless people in the Russian-speaking world whose lives are touched by the ministry of The Back to God Hour, I’d like to thank you for your Christian love and generous spirit.
