Since the early 1970s, The Back to God Hour’s ministry to the people of Japan has been taking shape and growing. Today, from studio offices in Tokyo, Japan, Rev. Masao Yamashita and his staff bring the message of a Savior in a country where only about 1 percent of its people embrace Christianity.
The culture of Japan embraces technology, but is hesitant to break with traditional values. With that in mind, Rev. Yamashita and his staff have developed extensive use of the Internet and email, in addition to radio broadcasts. Thousands of visitors log on to cell-based and land line-based websites each month, seeking instruction and guidance in the Christian life.

Ministry Leader: Rev. Masao Yamashita
Rev. Masao Yamashita was raised in a Buddhist home, but became a Christian as a teenager after reading his sister’s Bible and listening to The Back to God Hour’s morning program every day. He received his Theological training at Calvin Seminary, and was pastor of a Reformed Church in Japan before he became The Back to God Hour Japanese ministry leader in 1998.
