Trinity Christian College Appoints Interim President

April 16, 2014

Following the recent nomination of its current president, Dr. Steven Timmermans, to become the new executive director of the Christian Reformed Church, Trinity Christian College has appointed Dr. Elizabeth Rudenga, provost of Trinity, to serve as its interim president.

The Trinity Christian College Board of Trustees made its announcement on Tuesday, saying Rudenga will step into the position on June 1.

At its February meeting, the CRC’s Board of Trustees nominated Timmermans to serve as executive director, pending the approval of the CRC Synod in June.

As the chief academic officer of the college in Palos Heights, Ill. since 2000 and dean of the faculty, Rudenga has been responsible for the scope and quality of instruction with the goal of providing the best possible environment for educating students, says a press release.

She has provided leadership in long-range planning and works with committees of Trinity’s Board of Trustees and faculty, says the release.

In addition to her work in the academic division, Rudenga has been responsible for the admissions, financial aid, marketing and communications, and athletics departments. She has also served as Trinity’s director of faculty development and chair of the education department.

“Dr. Rudenga’s extensive academic and administrative experience and broad involvement in institutional functions make her a unique and exceptional candidate for this position,” said Martin Ozinga III, who currently serves as chair of Trinity’s Board of Trustees.
