Dr. Sharon Robbert, dean for academic planning and effectiveness and professor of mathematics, has been appointed to serve as interim provost for Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Ill.

According to a press release from Trinity, Robbert will become provost, the college’s chief executive officer, when Dr. Elizabeth Rudenga, Trinity Christian College’s current provost, steps in to serve as interim president. Both changes take place on June 1.

Rudenga’s appointment to serve as interim president was announced a few weeks ago after the news that President Steve Timmermans, Ph.D., had been nominated by the Christian Reformed Church in North America to serve as its next executive director, pending final approval at the annual synod in June.

As interim provost, Robbert will also serve as dean of the faculty and “be responsible for the scope and quality of instruction to offer the best environment for educating students,” says the press release.

The provost works with committees of the Board of Trustees and the faculty and supervises the academic deans in addition to a variety of other responsibilities.

Robbert, who has been been on faculty since 1993, earned her B.A. from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich.and her M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
