Program Growing at CTS

People who feel the call to ministry and yet are unable to attend Calvin Theological Seminary (CTS) continue to show interest and are enrolling in the seminary’s Distance Learning Master of Divinity program.

When CTS launched the degree in Fall 2012, there was a sense that there was potential interest,  especially for those who were already plugged into a community and ministry setting far from Grand Rapids.

Now, though, that interest seems clear.

The unique setup of the program, where most of the work is done online and is supplemented by two week-long “intensives” on-campus, “has made the (Master of Divinity) degree program more accessible than ever,” says Matthew Cooke, director of admissions.

“Now beginning its second semester, we are pleased to find the interest in the program to match and even exceed our expectations,” he says.

Already, there are strong admissions numbers for Spring of 2013.

The incoming Distance Learning student cohort for Spring semester is larger than the Fall Semester group of 14 students.

The ongoing response to the program makes it clear that the distance-learning program, says Cooke, is meeting a need for those unable to attend CTS in person and yet are considering a vocational call to ministry.
