“La Casa de Oración: un lugar donde se encontrar con Dios.”

In English, this means “The House of Prayer: a place where you find God.”

And this is the mission statement of La Casa de Oración, a church plant located in Spring, Texas.

Currently funded by Christian Reformed Home Missions, this ministry was launched on Dec. 1, 2013, and hosts Sunday services at 2 p.m. in New Life CRC’s facilities.

Pablo Gaggero and his wife, Diana, are both ordained ministers, and together they take on the responsibility of leading this church.

Pablo Gaggero says he is passionate about preaching the gospel.

“There are so many mega-churches today because people do not want to receive exhortation and be told to change the way they are living,” he says. “Many churches today just want people to feel good.”

La Casa de Oración’s Sunday services are vital to the flourishing of the congregation, but the heart of this ministry lies in the prayer groups that happen on Monday through Friday in members’ homes.

This congregation believes in the declaration of James 5:16 that “the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

God has proven faithful in answering their prayers. Gaggero recalls the story of a boy named Alex.

Alex’s father was a member of La Casa de Oración when Alex was detained by immigration officials. Despite the seemingly impossible situation, the congregation never gave up praying.

A few weeks later the courts granted Alex permission to take part in a special program designed for challenged youth. Today, Alex plays piano and sings in the praise band at La Casa de Oración.

“It is such a testimony to God’s grace to see Alex in front of church, praising the name of Jesus!” Gaggero says.

Gaggero is excited about the lives that are being changed, but also about growing his  congregation into a family. This spring they hosted a family day.

All day long there were activities at the church, including basketball, volleyball, and soccer. There also were two organized teaching times.

One took place in the morning to coach parents on how to build a strong marriage and raise godly children. The afternoon lesson was specifically for children and teenagers.

La Casa de Oración is currently praying for a facility of their own.

Gaggero and the church trust that God has a plan for them.

“I have been in ministry for 10 years, and it has taught me to love deeper, show more compassion, and grow in patience,” he says.
