The rugged city in the heart of India was no place for Sukh Ram, a Hindu man, to raise his young family.

The streets were like a war-zone. Day to day life was difficult, dangerous, and full of problems. When Sukh Ram’s wife died, he was left to care for his two small children. Alone.

In times of despair, Sukh Ram hoped for something better. For the safety and security of his children, he moved his family to a remote village many hours away.

In his new home, Sukh Ram found new life. Christians in the village welcomed Sukh Ram into their community, and, in turn, Sukh Ram welcomed Christ into his heart.

“They introduced me to the gospel and to Back to God Ministries Hindi radio program,” Sukh Ram explained. “They prayed with me and helped me overcome my past.

“Through answered prayers, I found peace, joy and freedom from sin—that wasn’t possible with Hinduism.”

Today, Sukh Ram goes by the name Prabhu Das, meaning Servant of God.

“I work in the fields day and night to provide for my family,” said Sukh Ram, “and I live each day for the Lord, eager to learn more and more about the Bible.”

But in such an isolated village that receives only occasional visits from Christian evangelists and teachers, there’s no one around to help him understand biblical doctrines.

Radio broadcasts like Back to God Ministries Hindi program help fill the gap by offering spiritually fulfilling programs on a regular basis.

For Sukh Ram, or Prabhu Das, the program is like daily nourishment for the soul. It helps him lead a Christ-centered life, and raise his children to do the same, he says.
