CRC's Publications Win Church Press Awards

May 14, 2015

The Christian Reformed Church’s annual Ministry Report was recognized as one of the best of its kind this year by the Associated Church Press.

The Ministry Report 2014, published by CRC Communications and distributed in The Banner, received an Award of Merit at the 2015 Associated Church Press/Canadian Church Press Conference held April 29 to May 1 in Toronto, Ontario.

The judges praised the publication, edited by Henry Hess and designed by Dean Heetderks, for its clarity and its use of personal stories and impact.

Breaking Barriers, the quarterly newsletter of the CRC’s office of Disability Concerns, received two Awards of merit and an Honorable Mention. The newsletter is co-edited by the director of Disability Concerns, Mark Stephenson, who also received an Award of Merit and an Honorable Mention for his Disability Concerns postings on The Network.

Commenting on the awards, Stephenson expressed appreciation to co-editor Terry DeYoung, coordinator for the Reformed Church in America Disability Concerns ministry.

About his blog, he said, “I'm pleased that I have a vehicle to talk about disability and ministry, which is so important for healthy churches. I appreciate the many readers who navigate to it regularly.”

The Associated Church Press is dedicated to excellence in journalism in Christian publications. Each year it honors magazines, newspapers, authors, bloggers, designers, and photographers at its Best of the Christian Press Awards Banquet.
