Acts of Synod 2014 Available Online

July 22, 2014

The Acts of Synod 2014 are now available in an electronic version on the Christian Reformed Church website on the Synod Resources page as well as on the Synod 2014 web page.

The Acts are the official record of synod’s actions and contain supplementary reports by the CRC’s agencies and ministries to Synod 2014, which met June 14-18 on the campus of Central College in Pella, Iowa.

The Acts also look at how the overtures that came to synod were resolved and make available additional reports such as “Summary of the Report Cultivating Binationality in the CRCNA.”

A central element of Synod 2014 was the historic, joint session on Saturday evening, June 14 at which the CRC synod and the Reformed Church in America’s General Synod adopted a resolution, pledging to work together whenever possible.

The Acts also give the complete program for the RCA/CRC Synod Service of Praise that was held with the community on June 15 in the Vermeer Pavilion in Pella.

Delegates had a chance to learn about the work that CRC and RCA ministries are doing together and about the Reformed Collaborative.

The Acts also record the decision to appoint Dr. Steven Timmermans the CRC’s new executive director, as well as the ratification of Rev. Darren Roorda as Canadian ministries director.

After debate about the contents and role of its denominational magazine, The Banner, Synod 2014 lamented the publication of two controversial articles last summer and ordered a review of the magazine’s mandate.
